  • Brown vs. Board of Education

    This resulted in the courts declaring that racially segregated schools were unconstitutional.

  • Montgomery Bus Boycott

    When Rosa Parks was put in jail for refusing to give up her seat to a white person this resulted in the boycott of all Montgomery buses. This boycott lasted for over a year.

  • Malcom X

    Malcom X was a human rights activist he preached about African American power and extreme violence to white Americans.

  • March On Washington

    MLK gave his famous 'I have a dream' speech to support civil rights by the Lincoln Memorial and over 250,000 gathered to listen.

  • Civil Rights Act

    Johnson created the civil rights act that prohibited discrimination in public places, banned discrimination on employers, and banned the different voter registrations for blacks and whites.

  • Voting Rights Act

    The house of representatives passed the voting rights act that allowed African Americans to vote. It was a huge advancement in the civil rights movement.
