The Ku Klux Klan or KKK is a radical extremist group the believed in white supremacy. They bombed black schools, churches, and beat colored men and women to death. They also burned crosses and staged rallies. -
Rosa Parks Sit-In
A colored woman named Rosa Parks declined to give her seat to a white man. She is arrested and sent to jail. This triggers the Montgomery Bus Boycott. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was when African-American residents of Montgomery, Alabama refused to ride the busses. The boycott lasted 381 days. This pushed Supreme Court to integrate the bus systems. -
Martin Luther King, Jr. Birth
Michael Luther King Jr. is born. Later on in his life he changed his name to Martin. In his life he was a pastor and the leader of the Civil Rights Movement. At 35 years old he recieved the Nobel Peace Prize. The youngest person at the time to receive the award. On April 4, 1968 he was assassinated. -
Malcolm X Assassinated
Malcolm X founder of the Organization of Afro-American Unity is shot to death. He is believed to be shot by members of the Black Muslim faith. He recently left the organizations. -
Voting Rights Act
This act truly let everyone have voting rights. It elimanated literacy tests. It also allowed the Army to become involved if these rights were denied to anybody. -

Selma, Alabama was the starting place of three different marches. The three marches were supposed to reach Montgomery, Alabama. These marches protested voter discrimination. The first two marches retreated. The first from violence. The second retreated because MLK Jr. wanted to. -
Civil Rights Act of 1968
This act was rejected by congress in 1966. It allowed anyone to go to school. It also protected anyone expressing their rights.This bill was passed by Lyndon B. Johnson.
