Rosa Parks is arrested in the Montgomery Bus Boycott for not giving up her seat to a white person. Martin Luther King, Jr. is chosen to lead the boycott. It lasted 381 days. -
Freedom Riders
Two buses took the Freedom Riders on a trip through the South to ensure that it was desegregated. Many of the Freedom Riders were badly beaten up and the bus was even bombed. -

Bobby Kennedy Assassinated
Robert Kennedy had just won the California Primary and he was surely going to be our next president. He was a supporter of Civil Rights, and although his death didn't have anything to do with the Civil Rights, they felt that they truly lost a leader.
