Brown vs. Braod of education, were the Supreme Court ruled that it was illegal to seperate public schools for black and white kids. This case overturned the Plessy vs. Ferguson case. This helped out in the civil right movement. -

Emmet Till murdered in Mississippi
14 year old Emmet Till found dead in a river. The black boy was murdered for apparently staring a a white girl wrong. The murders went up against an all white jury and they were acquited. -

The Montgomery Bus Boycott begins on public Transportation in Montgomery, Alabama. The first person to do it, was Rosa Parks. Then others started refusing to give there seats to white people. -
