Brown V Board of Education
Brown V. The Board of Education was a court case in which the Supreme Court declared that Segregated schools is unconstitutional. -
Autherine Lucy and University of Alabama
After a long length legal battle, Autherine Lucy was the first African American student to attent the University of Alabama, however on Febuary 1st 1956 she was denied entry into the school, as the school wouldn't provide enough protection from the angry mobs. Autherine was expelled when she, and her attorneys accused the University of conspiring with the mob. -
Rosa Parks
Rosa parks was arrested on a Montgomery Bus for refusing to give her seat to a white passanger on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama, due to the arrest the Montgomery Bus Boycott started. -
Browder V. Gayle
Browder V Gayle was a three judge panel, it was about the Montgomery and Alabama state segregation laws, it ended when it was made illegal to have segreation on public buse, leading to the Montogomery Bus Boycotts to end. -
Sit-In Movement
The Sit-in movement was when 4 friends went to a department store, purchased school supplies and ordered coffee, they proceeded to sit at the 'whites-only' counter they refused to leave unless they were served the same as white customers. Eventually this led to 29 more African-Americans to do the same. -
Freedom Riders
In early May 1961 a team of African Americans and white volunteers boarded several southbound interstate buses. The buses were met with an angry white mob in Anniston, Birmingham, and Montgomery. The mobs slashed tires, threw rocks, and even one bus was fire bombed, luckily no one was hurt.
