Brown v Board of Education
The US Supreme Court rules an end to segregation in schools. They had both races of kids in the same building for school. -
The Emmett Till murder
14 year old Emmett Till was killed by white people. He was visiting family in Mississippi. He said something to a white person as a dare. -
The Montgomery bus boycott
There were segregation laws during this time and this event is why Martin Luther King jr fought for. Rosa Parks got arrested for sitting on the wrong side of the bus because black and whites weren't aloud to sit by each other. -
The Little Rock school crisis
Little Rock High school prevented the desegregation. President Dwight D Eisenhower sends in soldiers to let 9 black kids attend that school. -
The March on Washington
President A Philip Randolph and his assistant Bayard Rustin set up and march for the freedom and jobs. Almost a quarter million people attended. -
King is assassinated
Martin Luther King is fighting for poor people and travels to Tennessee to support striking sanitation workers. While there on April 4th 1968 King was assassinated by white racist James Earl Ray.
