    March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom
    This event was a protest in which the famous "I have a dream" speech was made. It was also the largest civil rights gathering of that time. The purpose was to advocate for civil and economic rights of African Americans.
  • Freedom Summer

    Freedom Summer was when volunteers came to Mississippi to ensure black voters could exercise their right to vote. This was an achievement as it boosted voting and brought awareness to Jim crow laws.

    The fair housing act made it illegal to discriminate in the renting and sale of housing. The discrimination of race, nation origin, sex, and religion were illegal and several amendments were made later on to also specify familial status and disability. This was a legislation.
