  • Six-year-old Ruby & Freedom Riders

    Ruby Bridges (6yr old) becomes the 1st student to integrate into William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. (1961) Black and White activists took buses to protest against segregation. Marked by white protestors through violence. History

    Civil Rights Act of 1964
    A 1964 law prohibited discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, or national origin in public establishments like theaters, hotels, and restaurants. In addition to prohibiting discrimination in hiring practices, the act created the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to assist in enforcing the legislation.PBS
