The Little Rock 9 got blocked away by white people on their first day of school. For the entire school, they had to have soldiers around them to protect them to go to school. After many years, colored people and white people began to study in the same school. -
SNCC founded
SNCC emerged from the first wave of student sit-ins and formed at a May 1960 meeting organized by Ella Baker at Shaw University. -

Children's Crusade
More than one thousand students skipped classes and gathered at Sixth Street Baptist Church to march to downtown Birmingham, Alabama. As they approached police lines, hundreds were arrested and carried off to jail in paddy wagons and school buses.
