African American "Sit in"
This event is where the black people sat in diners and resturants at the white people sections of the diners and resturants. The black people acted like nothing was happening and they were doing nothing wrong. The "sit in" happened in Chicago and it was meant to help lead towards the desegregation of the South. -
Brown Vs. Board of Education
The Brown VS. Board of Education is where the supreme court decided that sperate but equal is NOT ok. This meant that whites and blacks were able to be in the same schools and was the start of desegregating schools in the South. -
Rosa Parks Arrested
Rosa Parks was arrested because she was sitting in the front of the bus and wouldn't move to the back so white people could sit in the front. Rosa Parks was also part of the NAACP organization and this was the event that started the bus boycott. The boycott lasted 381 days and all happened because of Rosa Parks and her arrest. -
MLK Gives His "I have a Dream" speech
Martin Luther King gave his famous speech in Washington D.C. with over 250,000 people present. Both white and black people were present to hear his speech. His speech talked about the desegregation in the South. This speech also talked about what he pictures for the future and that what they are doing and how they are doing it will pay off sooner or later. -
Malcom X Dies
Malcom X was a national and a religous leader. He did not believe that what MLK doing was right. How the blacks shouldnt fight back or use violence. He believed that they should fight back and use violence since the white people have been using violence against the blacks and how the whites have been beating the blacks. Malcom X was the founder of the Organization of Afro-American Unity. He was assassinated by members of the Black Muslims.
