The North shelled Chattanooga. They killed some soldiers. They sanked two steam ships. They removed 2 ships from the South. -
Ulysses S. Grant takes over the Union Army
Grant was made in charge of the Union armys. One other person had a higher positin than Grant.
Grant made all of the armys work together he captured Richmond. -
13th amendment
It said that slavery was illegal. The South could not do slavery if it joined the Union. -
Atlanta captured
Atlanta was an important city in the South. Sherman tried to capture it. Sherman captured a railroad. The South army left. The North got an important city in the South. -
Sherman's March to the Sea
The march was 300 miles long. Sherman tried to confuse the South on where he ws going. A North army would go from the North to the South. -
Savannah captured.
Sherman needed supplies. Sherman was protected so he couldn't get them from the Navy. He got one of the forts. He got his supplies. The South left and then surrendered. The North got 150 guns and cotton and captured a city. -

Any slaves that were in the Confederate states were freed when the armys went through an area. The South lost their slaves so they didn't have people to work on the farms.
