Clary is a mundane girl who goes to a NYC club, Pandemonium, with her friend Simon. -

Hook
While in Pandemonium, Clary sees a boy and girl murder another boy in a closet, but her friend Simon is not able to see anything. -
Rising Action
Clary gets home late from the club and her mother is upset. Her mother tells Clary that they will be leaving NYC for the entire summer. Clary gets mad and leaves the house. -
Rising Action
Clary's mother calls her to come home and is taken. Her mother warns her to stay away from home. -
Rising Action
Clary is brought to the institute by Jace, one of the boys from Pandemoniem. She starts to learn about the Dark Worlds. -
Rising Action
Clary has to fight to find her mother and the Cup. She encounters many creatures of the other world on her adventure. -
Rising Action
Clary and Luke find Jocelyn and Jace in the hideout. Jocelyn is sedated and Jace knows that Valentine is his father. -
Rising Action
Jace and Clary speak with Valentine. He tried to manipulate them since they are his kids. Luke comes in and fights Valentine. -
Climax
Valentine escapes into Idris with the cup. -
Falling Action
The clave is notified of everything that has happened and those that have been injured start to heal. -
Resolution
Jace and Clary fly to the hospital to try to wake up Jocelyn.
