The bishops boat arrives during breakfast.
The Bishop's boat is heard and it is revealed that the men who would kill Santiago were waiting for him outside of his house. -
His Mother knew!?
It is said that his mother denied knowing his attackers were there when asked by investigators, but that she later admitted to have heard they were there, but she didnt beleive it and simply di not want to tell her son. -
And so they wait
Santiago's future assailants do not attack for now after a word from the shop owner urges them to fulfill their task after the bishop has left. -

Somehow everyone besides Santiago knew of his impending death, although not all believed it would actually occur. -
Santiago leaves his friends
6:25am Santiago separates from his friends to change his clothes before eating with them, they will never see him alive again. -

Before he leaves for the day, Santiago accidentally wakes his mother while looking for aspirin, the last image his mother will ever remember of him is him taking a sip of water illuminated by the light from the doorway. -
