I graduated from Roswell High School (GA), a national blue-ribbon school, in June 2000, and began my higher education at Georgia State University that fall with a bachelor's degree in journalism. -

Moved to Fort Myers
Spent 3 Years on Assignment Desk; during this time both my parents pass away (within 7 months apart). After a bit of soulsearching, I decided to quit TV News and pursue a teaching career. -
Day-to-Day Substitute Teacher

Spring 2011 TIP Internship; TIP Graduation
Interned with Gail Hall, 5th grade reading teacher at Bayshore Elementary (N. Ft. Myers). She taught me the UNRA(A)VEL reading strategy. I took and pass my certification test for elementary education K-6. -
Open-End Teacher at Treeline
Managed a kindergarten classroom in August 2011, then managed a 4th grade classroom (where I taught Treasures to on-level readers) from September-December 2011. Attended a Kagan Cooperative Learning Trainings at Dunbar Middle School. Began working on my ESOL endorsement. Took Writers in Control trainings (both expository and narrative writings) -
5th Grade Math/Science Teacher
My first full-time teaching job at Pelican Elementary. Hired by former principal Richard Ivill. Duties included lesson plannomg (to match the curriculum found on the FL NGSSS), teaching, assessing students' understanding of math/science content, Represented Pelican in Lee County's 2nd annual STEMtastic event. Grad School & Alva Middle
I enrolled in the reading masters graduate program at FGCU. Worked at Alva Middle School; worked to provide effective instruction, an active team player with other teachers, teach and model effectve classroom behaviors with others (in a cooperative learning setting),& prove thoughtful planning. -
Where I stand today
I am looking forward to continue my teaching career for the 2013-14 school year. I am a team player, hard-worker, and a good motivator to encourage students of all ages to succeed. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future. Thanks
