Chris gradutes College
Graduated Emory University with a 3.72 GPA with a history and anthropology major. His parents wanted him to proceed on to law school and even offered to pay the full tuition. Even before gradutating college, the last two years of college were already paid for by a 42,000 bequest left by a family friend. There was a lot of money left for Chris but did not want anything to do with his parents -
Chris abandons his car
He drives his car out to a desert where the path says nobody should bring their car or drive on the trail. It ends up getting destroyed by a flash flood, the engine is flooded and he drains the battery. He strips the car of its Virginia plates and continues his journey on foot. -
Christopher canoes all over
Christopher buys a canoe and finds himself travelng by canoe through the Colorado River, which can be considered a very dangerous trip for someone who is not that experienced with travels such as this one. He goes to the Gulf of Mexico and tries to reach the Pacific Ocean. To his dissapointment, he realizes that they do not connect. -
Chris lives in Bullhead City, Arizona

Chris meets Jan Burres and Bob
When he traveled with Jan and Bob, they were located in the "The Slabs". The Slabs was located in Niland California. While he was there he helped sell books for Jan and Bob. He became rather close with them. -
Christopher meets Ronald A. Frez
Chris lived with Ron for about a month and he taught Christoper some useful tricks about leather. Eventually Ron wanted to adopt Christopher becaue his family was killed in a car crash. However Chris wanted to continue his journey. -
Chris finds the bus
Chris was on his journey when he came across the bus. This abandoned bus had belonged to the Fairbanks City Transit system and this is where he lived throughout his trip and ended up dying here as well. -
Chris leaves South Dakota to head to Alaska
As he is departing from South Dakota he leaves his journal with Wayne Westenberg and starts to cry when he is hugging them goodbye. They don't want him to go and wished he'd stay but there is no stopping him. He figures that he will never see these people again and it upsets him. -
Chris and Gaylord Stuckey arrive in Fairbanks, Alaska
After hitch hiking for some time, Gaylord Stuckey picks him up and he drives him to Stampede Trail. Along the carride, Gaylord tries to tell him how dangerous the trip he wanted to take was. He offered a lot of supplies that Chris did not have but he did not take them. -
Chris's attempt to leave the bush
He knows that he is going to end up dying out in wild if he does not eat. He tries to find ways to get back into the city. But the Teklanika River has swelled to five times it's original size so Chris could not cross therefore giving the only option of going back to the bus. -
Chris McCandless dies
With not enough food and nutrients Chris ended up dying of starvation. He did not know how to hunt , he was basically living off of rice and had no meat for months. It also became discovered that he died because of the fungus that was growing on a plant that he was at eating at the time. -
Chris's body is found
After rotting in the bus for 19 days, Chris's body was soon discovered by several groups of people that came across the bus. When they had the discovered the abandonded they smelt Chris's body rotting inside. When his body was discovered it was estimated to be 77 pounds.
