    Jimmy Carter Post-President

    Jimmy opened up the Carter center which taught diseases, hunger, poverty, etc around the world. Later Jimmy And his wife had joined Habitats for Humanity to help the poor in New York. He then won the Prestigious award of the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • 1946 Governors Race

    Eugene Talmadge died before taking office and it left three men fighting for the position of Governor. It included Herman Talmadge, Ellis Arnell, and Melvin Thomsman.

    Coming of the Atlanta Hawks

    The Atlanta Hawks began in 1946 and were known as the Tri-City Black Hawks that were in three cities along the Mississippi River. In 1958 the Hawks won the National Championship while stationed at St. Lois. Later on in 1968 they were the third professional team in Atlanta.

    In 1956 Georgia changed their state flag to the confederate battle flag.
  • Jimmy Carter elected US Senator

    Jimmy Carter is eleceted as a US senator that supported intergration in the south. He wanted to promote efficiency and educational opportunities by merging colored and white schools.

    Martin Luther King Jr. led the March on Washington, and because of that it eventually led to the civil rights act.
  • Voting Rights Act

    This act banned states for not allowing people from being able to vote because of their race.

    The Atlanta Falcons

    The Falcons were the second professional team to come to Atlanta in 1966, and had two Super Bowl apperances one in 1978 and the other in 2017. The team is owned by Auther Black which happens to also be the owner of The Home Depot.

    The Atlanta Braves were the first pro team in Atlanta and the only team that won a major championship. They were also one of the most successful baseball teams in the 1990's
  • Jimmy Carter Elected Governor

    Jimmy Carter was elected Governor and that same night the General Assembly passed his bill that would end up saving Georgia's money.
  • Jimmy Carter elected President

    Jimmy Carter was elected President and during his term he helped Egypt and Israel sign a treaty. He also signed an agreement with Russia restricting the number of missle test sites.
  • The Olympics

    The 1996 Olympics were hosted in Atlanta, Ga and brought nearly 5.1 billion dollars to the Georgia economy. On July 27 Eric Robert Ruldolph bombed the Olympic killing two people.
