Swiss Chocolate
Swiss chocolate was ivented by Francois Louis Callier in 1819. At a local fair he saw chocolate being made for the first time. It smelled so good he bacame a Swiss immagrant labourer in Italy. He worked in Caffarel chocolate factory for four years in Milan. Cailler was a master chocolate maker when he returned home. He designed his own press with stone rollers. Cailler opened the first Swiss chocolate factory in 1819. -

Cocoa Press
Coenraad Johannes van Houten created the cocoa press in 1828. It would take roasted cacoa beans and sqeeze the cocoa butter out. It would leave a dry cake like form to be crushed into powder. Nestle Company
Nestle was invented by Henri Nestle, George Page, and Charles Page. During World War 1 and 2 it grew significantly. It started when Nestle made a milk based baby food, and started maketing it. Hershey
The first Hershey sale was in 1895. The company is located in Darry Church, Pennsylvania. It became the largest chocolate maufacturing plant in 1905. Tootsie Roll
The Toostie Roll was invented in 1896 by Leo Hirschfeld. He started his business in a small shop. Hirschfield named the candy after his daughter's nickname Clara "Tootsie" Hirschfeld. The Tootsie Pop was invented in 1931. It was popular in the Depression Era because of its low price. A standard part of American soldiers field rations was the Tootsie Pop during WWII. Chocolate Brownies
The chocolate brownies could have been created by Fanny Farmer. She took her chocolate chip cookie recipe and altered it. Another popular myth about the brownie was a house-wife who forgot to put baking power in her chocolate cake she was making. The cake turned out flat. Hershey Park
Hershey Park opened with a baseball game. The score was 13-1. Hershey won against the Cresent Club of Harrisburg. A couple yaers after the opening Hershey added a merry-go-round, a photography booth, a dance pavilion, several bowling alleys, and much more. It is located in Derry Township, Pennsylavania. -

First Hershey Kisses
The first Hershey Kiss was invented in 1907. People aren't sure how they got the name Kiss, but they think it was from the sound they were making when the Hershey company was producing Kisses. White Chocolate
White Chocolate was invented in the 1930's by the Nestle company. It is not actually chocolate. It is made from powdered milk, cocoa butter, and sugar. The Hershey Hugs were created in 1993, by the Hershey company. Hugs are a combination of Hershey milk chocolate surrounded by white cream. They are in the shape of a Hershey Kiss.
