    The People's Republic of China is Established
    After a long and brutal wasr between the Nationalists and the Communists, the communists finally achieve victory with the help of their army, the People's Libertation Army. The Nationalists have relocated to Taiwan. Now, with Mao as the leader, he did everything he could during the first half of the years he regined to prevent any middle class or working class from gaining power or increasing knowledge of how to gain power.

    The Five Year Plan

    Between 1953 and 1958, Mao implements the 5 year plan, through which he attempts (and succceeds) to industrialize and modernize China for the country to be able to stand up on its own. Although he is extremely successful, in the second plan and in this one, there are many who go starving and die of famine throughout China.
  • Mao becomes the president of the People's Republic of China

After his inauguration, in 1956-58, Mao implements the Hundred flowers campaign, in which he encourages people to criticize the governement for its faults. However, in reality, he uses this method to weed out anyone who thinks badly of the government to remove any influence on the other citizens of the PRC

    Anti-Rightest Movement

    In this movement, Mao stops the education of men and boys and changes it to the Communist form, in which they stop learning about anything that may influence them to revolt against Mao or the government. He changes the education system, so more 500,000 people are reeducated.
  • The Great Leap Forward

    Mao establishes the second 5 year plan with which he hopes to even further China's progress towars development. Although this seems to succeed economically, his plan results in hte death of 20-43 million people from the famine that he has caused by completely disregarding the health and well being o his people.
