The Chinese created making pots with clay, and water. How they came up with it was, when back then the only thing to eat on were wood and leaves. So the clay was able to be shaped and formed. -

Coffins
From the idea of making the coffin, people were known to put bodies in plain baskets and bury them. People were complaining about the bodies being eaten or taken by wild animals, so the Chinese decided to make hard stone source of something to put the bodies in. -
Compass
The compass was made with a type of iron and was made from the problem of people getting lost and not to know which way was North, South, East, and West.
