Guomindang forces captured hundreds of communists and beat and tortured them. The Soviet Union ended their support for the Nationalists. The communists that survived were forcedd underground or outside of where guomindang government was not used. -

Mao Zedong, a survived communist, lead a march against communism with 100,000 followers from Chiang's forces. They hiked for about 6,000. Only 20,000 survived the march. -
