The new constitution increases the presidents power, It also seperates church and state. -
Salvador Allende becomes president
He was the worlds first democratically elected Marxist president. He was Chile's first socialist president. -
33 Miners are rescued
33 Miners were trapped underground for 69 days. There rescue was watched by TV audiences over the world. -
Student Protests
Thousands of university and high school students demand a more equal education system. The Students protest on the streets of Chile. -
