The Cubs lost the first World Series game ever played at Wrigley Field 3-1 versus Philadelphia. They would go on to lose the entire series.

The Cubs lost a heartbreaking World Series in 1945. The series went 7 games but ultimately Detroit came out victorious. This is also the World Series that the now famous "Curse of the Goat" originated at. The Cubs have yet to return to the World Series.
