Chet Baker was born on December 23, 1929, in Yale, Oklahoma. He began playing the trumpet as a child and continued to practice extensively as he grew older.

Chet Baker became really famous when he joined a group called the Gerry Mulligan Quartet. They made music together, and many people loved it! One of their most famous songs is called "Chet Baker Sings," which came out in 1954. Chet not only played the trumpet but also sang beautifully in a smooth voice.

Chet Baker started making his own music and albums. He traveled a lot in Europe and had many fans who loved his music.

Chet Baker had a hard time because he was addicted to drugs. This made things difficult for his music career and his personal life. He got into trouble with the law because of drugs and even went to prison in the 1960s.

Even though Chet Baker had problems, he kept on making music in the 1970s and 1980s. People started liking his music again, especially in Europe. Critics really liked some of his albums like "She Was Too Good to Me" (1974) and "Chet Baker in Tokyo" (1987).

Chet Baker kept performing and making music until the end of his life. Sadly, he passed away on May 13, 1988, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, when he was 58 years old. But his music still inspires lots of musicians today.
