Land companies wanted to buy Georgia's western lands and bribed Georgia's Governer and General Assembly to sell the land. After this dispute was over the states of Alabama and Mississippi. -

Third Capital of Georgia. Outbreak of malaria so capital moved to Milledgeville. Named after King Lois XVI. -
