Failure of League of Nations
The League of Nations was an international organisation set up in 1919 to help keep world peace. It was intended that all countries would be members of the League and that if there were disputes between countries they could be settled by negotiation rather than by force. If this failed then countries would stop trading with the aggressive country and if that failed then countries would use their armies to fight. -
Treaty of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was signed declaring that Germany was the cause of the war, German Emperor Willhelm II was tried as a War Criminal, Germany had to pay the allies 31 billion Gold Marks. -
German Hyperinflation
The German Hyperinflation was caused because of the Treaty of Versallies. This caused the prices of basic necessities such as food and water to increase 10 fold. This caused many German citizens to be angered with the Allies. -
Great Depression
The Great Depression was a severe worldwide economic depression in the decade preceding World War II. The timing of the Great Depression varied across nations, but in most countries it started in about 1929 and lasted until the late 1930s or early 1940s. It was the longest, most widespread, and deepest depression of the 20th century. -
Rise of Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler became the Chancellor of Germany and in secrecy began building up Germany's Army. By increasing the size of the army he was able to create more jobs for the people. -
Failure Of Appeasement
Britian had a new prime minister, Neville Chamberlain. He believed that the Treaty of Versallies was unfair and treated Germany badly and that there were a number of issues with the Treaty that need to be changed. He thought that giving into Hitler's demands would prevent another war from starting. This didn't work because Hitler thought that because Neville wanted an Appeasement that he could whatever he wanted.
