Charles Darwin, Starts writing "Origins of Species"
Darwin writes 500 page book on theory of evolution by natural selection in one year. Keith Frances claims that the only other theory at the time about the origins of life was by a man named William Paley, who believed that God created all and the only view of how everything came about was through Christianity, he called it Natural Theology (46). The difference in these theories was that "Darwin did not invoke an entity outside of nature to make the machine of nature work" (Frances 46). -
Darwin receives a letter.
Darwin receives a letter from Alfred Wallace who basically has almost the same theory when it comes to evolution. They both submit their theories to the Linnean Society to be read and to get the ideas published. "On the Tendency of Species to form Varieties; and on the Perpetuation of Varieties and Species by Natural Means of Selection". -
Charles Darwin, Origins of Species Published
"The Origins of Species" published by John Murray (Darwin online). This book was Darwins actual description and claim to evolution by natural selection. Darwin consistently asked the questions of why there were so many species of different animals, and that through this the only way could be evolution. A God or creator could not just be the only answer, due to its non changing approach and evidence proved that the world was ever changing. -
