    Charles Lindbergh was born February 4th, 1902 in Detroit, Illinois. At the age of 25, he was the first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

    Word of the Orteig prize, awarded to the first person to fly nonstop from NY to Paris, got out. Lindbergh convinced 9 men to help provide finances for him to create his own airplane.The plane was then named the Spirit of St. Louis.
