Charles Lindbergh was born February 4th, 1902 in Detroit, Illinois. At the age of 25, he was the first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. -

On the morning of May 20th, at 7:52, Lindbergh took off near New York and started his epic journey amid the Spirit of St. Louis. -

On May 21st, 1927 Lindbergh landed in Paris, 33 hours after leaving New York -
The Inspiration for the Flight
Word of the Orteig prize, awarded to the first person to fly nonstop from NY to Paris, got out. Lindbergh convinced 9 men to help provide finances for him to create his own airplane.The plane was then named the Spirit of St. Louis. -
Recognitions
Lindbergh is famously known as the Lone Eagle for his transatlantic trip. in 1927, Lindbergh published a book about this journey. He went on to contribute to our technological advancements in many different ways. -
