    Birth
    Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12th, 1809, to Robert Waring Darwin (1766-1848), and Susannah Wedgewood (1765-1817) as the second youngest of six other siblings. Darwin was raised on strict beliefs imposing the importance of family and personal discipline, was held in the highest regard, as opposed to traits like laziness and compliance which had zero tolerance within the family structure (Thomson 11).

    HMS Beagle Voyage - First Publication

    Beginning in 1831, Darwin set out on a five-year voyage aboard the HMS Beagle in order to expand on his naturalist views. During the voyage, Darwin took notes and kept observations on the numerous species of plants and animals that he encountered. Upon completion of the voyage in 1836, he would officially publish the summarization of his experiences, which would lay the groundwork for future proposals (Darwin).

    Based on the initial findings and reasoning collected as a result of his previous voyage, Darwin published what is possibly considered his most famous work known as the "Origin of Species" in 1859, which, based on the evidence and proposals within, fundamentally changed how humanity viewed the concept of evolutionary concepts, which he referred to as natural selection (Reznick and Ruse 1-20).

    In addition to previous work, while also further extending his groundbreaking theories and proposals, Darwin published "The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex" in 1879, which broke down the overall connections between his proposals of evolutionary theory to that of human evolution, in addition to the significance of sexual selection within biology (Desilva 1-3).

    After a long battle with multiple health issues, Darwin died on April 19th, 1882, and was honored for his many lives works by being buried at the famed Westminster Abby in close proximity with some of history's most significant scientists (Darwin 362-364).
