Charles Darwin spent months in Salvador, Brazil. He witnessed a lot of flatworms and spiders. Charles Darwin spent over two years making periodic trips to the cliffs at Bahia Blanca and St. Julian. This is where he found huge bones of extinct mammals. Darwin brought skulls, femurs, and armor plates back to the ship. He found relics of what he thought was rhinoceroses, mastodons, cow-sized armadillos, etc. This is what formed Darwin's obsession with fossil extraction and pushed him question the primeval world and what caused the giant animals he uncovered to die.
