In 1825 his father sent him to study medicine at Edinburgh University thats where he only spent 2 years there. In 1827 he later then transferred over to the British university where he learned about the chemistry of cooling rocks. The voyage would take 5 years and it was to facilitate British trade and return 3 savages previously borrowed from England. Since he was a naturalist he could leave the boat when he wanted where ever they ported which left him to only being on the boat for 18 months total. The rest of the time was spent out exploring and studying different cultures, animals, and collecting different species skin and bones.
  • Darwins change of mind.

In 1832 Darwin devised his theory of evolution. After traveling to South America he seen the world differently and seen how we people connect to animals. He then created the theory of what we know today of "Natural Selection". He noticed that while at Rio de Janeiro he noticed that it was where only the strong survived. How animals would eat other animals and so forth. He said this connected to humans.
  • Darwins change of mind cont......

" Animals whom we have made our slaves we do not consider our equals - do not slave holders wish to make the black man other kind." He is comparing to what he knew of slavery to what animals do. They feed of the weak and thats kind of the idea I got from what he believed slavery was, The rich feeding off the weak and poor.

In 1839 Darwin married his cousin Emma Wedgwood. They had 10 kids together.
  • The Theory

In 1842 Darwin sketched his theory of natural selection. He wrote Emma a letter stating if he was to die to pay and editor 400 lbs to publish it. He was scared of his theory and what his religious people would think of it. during this year Darwin wrote and published 3 other books which secured his reputation asa career geologist.
  • The book that shaped Darwin.

On 18 June 1858 Darwin had been about 250k words in on his book Natural selection. That same day he received a letter from Alfred Russel Wallace with a similar theory of his.
