    The Beginning
    Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in the town of Shrewsbury, England. He was born into great wealth and good fortune with his father, (Dr. R.W. Darwin) a practicing medical doctor, and a his grandfather (Dr. Erasmus Darwin), a well respected botanist. At age 16, Charles enrolled into college to become a medical doctor in his fathers footsteps, but soon realized that the sight of blood was unsettling. He soon changed his career choice to a more fitting field; natural history.
  • Voyage of a lifetime

    Voyage of a lifetime
    After he graduated from Christ's college with a bachelor's degree in biology in 1831, Darwin was recommended for a naturalists position aboard the HMS Beagle, bound to spend the next five years on a survey trip around the world. During the trip, Darwin collected various specimens to include birds, plants and fossils. The pacific islands, Galapagos Archipelago and South America were particularly interesting to him, and remained in the forefront of his mind for the years to come.
  • The Revolutionary Theory

    The Revolutionary Theory
    Upon his return to England, Darwin began to refine his research from the trip. The experience of the voyage had an incredibly inspirational impact on his view of natural history. From this point, he began to develop his well known theory of evolution and natural selection that would soon become revolutionary.     On 1858, Darwin introduced his revolutionary theory in a letter read at a meeting of the Linnean Society. On November 25, 1859 he published his renown theory in "on the origin of species by means of natural selection". After a lifetime fulfilled with adventure and research, Charles Darwin died on April 19, 1882 in his family home in London, England. Sources:
