Darwin's Early Life
Charles Robert Darwin was born in a small town in Shrewsbury, England. Darwin comes from a family of scientists, so it wasn’t surprising that he dropped medical school in order to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in 1831. (Desmond) Darwin grew fascinated in the science of natural sciences and later got the opportunity to travel around the world on the HMS Beagle that would change the world with his theory of evolution by natural selection. https://youtu.be/dfsUz2O2jww(http://www.timetoast.com) -
HMS Beagle
On 27 December 1831, the HMS set sail. Darwin's Job aboard the Ship was the ship's naturalist position and as such Darwin would collect a range of different samples of nature like birds, plants and fossils.(Desmond) Darwin had 5 years of hands-on research studying the ecology, zoology and geography. Darwin was very fond of South America and the Galapagos island. (Desmond) HMS Beagle returned to England in 1836, Darwin with all his research and many unanswered questions. -
On the Origin of Species
After his return to England, Darwin began connecting the dots between the fossils of the extinct animals he found and the different variations of animals and plants he saw along his travel. Darwin knew that Evolution was real and would look like a branching tree. Darwin expanded upon his work in 1844 but was in no hurry to get it published in fear of the opposition. (Desmond) Darwin finally publishes On the Origin of Species in November of 1859. Darwin died of a heart attack 18 April 1882. -

Effects of: On the origin of species
Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection became a hot debate that went on and on. Eventually evolution was accepted and Darwin became the grandfather of evolution. As for modern times we have utilized Darwin's work and expanded upon it helping biologists learn about what makes a species thrive or become extinct. Darwin's ideas are still put to use in a new tech called "Ecological Niche Modeling to determine the likelihood of an organism surviving in a particular ecosystem."(Tvolimport) -
