Darwin visits Galapagos Islands
The visit to the Galapagos would prove the starting point from which Darwin would develop his theories on evolution. This is the starting point of his evolution studies, and he only had 34 days to do so. -
Darwin publishes On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life
Darwin publishes his first book on Natural selection, and the studies are an instant hit. When he published his masterpiece, "On the Origin of Species," he shook up the scientific world. -
Darwin's second science shaking study
Darwin’s second book on evolutionary theory, The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex, focuses on human evolution and sexual selection. This book details an approach: Humans have evolved like every other animal over many years. In this book, Darwin expresses that animals pick their mate based on physical attributes, which intrigued him. -
Publishes last book "The Formation of Vegetable Mould through the Actions of Worms."
This book was published shortly before Darwin's death; however, I chose to include it because it shows how differently Charles Darwin thought, even up to his last days. This book is about the behavior of earthworms and why they do what they do. He was not so interested in the "why" as he was in the "what is making them do this. -
Darwin's Death
This is the end of Darwin's life, but it is not the end of the reach of his studies. His studies have caused a paradigm shift; scientists no longer thought that we just came to be humans in the way it was thought before; we have all been evolving for millennia.
