  • Lexington & Concord

    First shots of the Revolutionary War. British attempted to take gunpowder supply from Americans in Lexington, but forced to retreat in Concord.
  • Ticonderoga & Crown Point

    The CA surprised attacked these two British forts. Captured by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold.
  • George Washington Appointed leader of the Continental Army

    The 2nd Continental Congress agreed to create the Continental army to fight the British, led by George Washington
  • Bunker Hill(Breeds Hill)

    Loss for the Americans. The British tried running up Breed's hill to attack the Americans and were decimated, but the Americans were forced to retreat because they ran out of supplies.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    The Second Continental Congress drafted this doctrine and sent it to King George III to try to establish peace. This was harshly rejected by King George.
  • British burned down Falmouth(Portland), MA

    The British burned down the town in Portland because too much rebels in that town. First sign that there was no chance of making peace with Britain.
  • Battle of Quebec

    The Americans launched a two prong attack on the British lead by Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold. Was a failed invasion and Montgomery was killed
  • British burn down Norfolk, VA

    The British burn down Norfolk, VA. They did this because they wanted to killed patriots in the town
  • Publication of Common Sense

    This piece of literature was published to convince people that we it was necessary to break away from the British crown. Also suggested the creation of a republic
  • Evacuation Day

    The British evacuated their forces from Boston and relocated in NY because it was too dangerous to stay in Boston
  • Richard Henry Lee proposed resolution

    Lee's resolution was to essentially break away from Britain
  • The Declaration of Independence was approved

    The Second Continental Congress Approved the Declaration of Independence and sent it to King George III
  • Battle of Long Island(NY)

    The First major battle of the Rev War in which the CA lost and retreated to Penn. and chased by General William Howe.
  • Battle of Valcour Island

    Benedict Arnold Made a makeshift Navy and fought against British general, John Burgoyne. Arnold was defeated but he stalled Burgoyne to make sure he couldn't take Lake Champlain
  • Battle of Trenton

    GW crossed Delaware @ night after Christmas while British were sleeping off celebration and ambushed them.
  • Battle of Princeton

    GW bamboozled British spies watching him and army by keeping the fire going giving him a chance to sneak around them and march on to the British in Princeton. He ambushed them and defeated them.
