A legal case involving John Peter Zenger, a newspaper printer. Zenger's newspaper had written bad things about the loyal governor and was charged with libel. This gained freedom of the press. -
Printing Press is brought to America
Hand operated printing presses created pamphlets, leaflets, and journals. This allowed for new ideas and inovations to spread more easily. -

Battle of Quebec
James Wolfe attacked a poorly gaurded Quebec, scaling a cliff. Frecnh were defeated and the city was surrendered. -
Peace of Paris
The treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war between Great Britain and France. France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonists there. -
Pontiacs Uprising
The confederacy of Native Americans warriors under Ottawa chief Pontiac attack the British force at Detriot. He was trying to expel the British from the formerly French lands, The indians were defeated. -
Proclamation of 1763
This prohibited the settlement of areas beyond the Appalachians. The document was not designed to opress the colonists but to keep hostilities between the colonists and the Indians from occuring. -
Paxton Boys Rebellion
Frontiersmen from central Pennsylvania who formed a group to retaliate against local American indians in the aftermath of the French and Indian War and Pontiacs Rebellion. -
Regulator Protests
A rebellion initiated by residents of the backcountry who believed the governments officals were overcharging them. There were various violences against tax collectors, sheriffs, and judges. The rebellion hard to put down due to the disorganization of the government.
