After WWI, the treaty of Paris called on the demilitarization of the Rhineland. When Hitler took control, he ignored the treaty and built up forces. This provokes the French and lets the world know that he is serious about ignoring the treaty. -

After taking over Manchuria and Korea, Japan started to invade China first pushing to Peking and Shanghai. Later to Hong Kong and Canton. In an attempt to beat Chiang Kai-shek's forces. -

Rape of NanjingWhen the Japanese forces invaded the capital of the Republic of China and killed around 300,000 people. Men women and Children were buried alive, beheaded, and raped. This angered the Allies and pushed the United States closer to war. -
Anschluss
Germany annexed Austria. Many Austrians wanted Germany to annex them because the Treaty of Paris stripped them of an empire. Hitler's troops walked right into Austria to 'unify the Aryans." Hitler took Austria's gold and declared Austria a province of Germany and fixed the problem of unemployment by forcing labor. -

England allows Germany to invade Czechoslovakian Sudetenland in return for Germany's promise of peace. Hitler later ignores the treaty and is on the path for war. -
Appeasement
The Strategy of preventing a war by making concessions for legitimate grievenes. In this case, Germany warned the rest of the world that they would take over Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. British Prime-Minister Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler at the Munich Conference and agreed not to oppose Hitler in fear of war. -
