Civilian Conservation Corps
CCC was a program provided by FDR to preserve public land. The workers planted trees, maintained roads, and built flood barriers. The program hired 3 million people for the job. -
Agricultural Adjustment Act
The Agricultural adjustment act was put in place by Roosevelt in 1933. It paid farmers subsidies (cash grants from the government) for not farming part of their land. The land that is unused and is cycled around every few years. This allows the soil to regenerate its nutrients and helps to prevent another dust bowl. -
Federal Emergency Relief Act
FERA was created by Roosevelt as a way to quickly provide Americans with jobs. It employed over 20 million people to work in agriculture, construction, and education. FERA overall distributed 3.1 billion dollars. -
Works Progress Administration
The Works Progress administration replaced FEMA. It employed 8.5 million workers and they built bridges, roads, and parks. WPA lasted 8 years and ended from unemployment due to WW2. -
US Minimum Wage
Minimum wage was enrolled by FDR in 1938. It provided an average pay for low income Americans. This stopped busines form taking advantage of desperate people by under paying them.
