Transcontinental Railroad
The Transcontinental Railroad was completed in 1869 to cross the western half of America. The 1850s was the start of the westward expansion that allowed Americans to obtain gold from the Gold Rush in California and Silver Rush in Nevada.The new development of transportation gave easy access of goods to be traveled across from the Atlantic to Pacific coasts more efficiently by making goods accessible, inexpensive, and flexible.
