Changes in the auto industry in the 1970's

    Factory Change
    The auto factories had converted to war time production. One worker has stated that "If you ask a worker if he would rater work for volkswasgon or for a national firm, he would tell that he perfers to work for volkswagon. The working conditions are better there"(Lula). Another worker nomed Richard Zampini, an engine assembler, stated that “I never had to work anything like that, the repetition. . And I think the car line was running 105 an hour". All of this change was a lot for everyone.

    After the oil crisis of the 1970's meaning that oil comsuntion in the form of gasoline was incresing and the oil production was decreasing. After that there has been an inscersing competition of forgien manifcatures.

    The air bag in the car has been introudced, and we still have them today.
  • Auto Makers

    Because of the great depression a lot of independent auto makers started going out of business, due to the competition from the big three, meaning Chryler, Ford, and GM.

    The Lincoln becomes the first America car to offer antilock braking system.

    By 2005, globlization of the auto industry was mainly from GM or Toyota companies so really between the U.S. and Japan.
