    In St. Louise, Missouri, AT&T started the first mobile phone service. included only 5,000 people who had bulky specialized equipment weighing almost 36kg.

    Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive, made the first Mobile Phone and completed the first mobile call. The prototype could make a call for 30 minutes and took 10 hours to recharge.

    Motorola luanched its DynaTAC mobile phone using Dr. Coopers design on the first US 1G network by Ameritech. Costing over $100m to develope and taking a decade since Cooper's first prototype to reach the market.

    Introduced on November 23, 1992, the IBM Simon was teh first smart phone incorporating a PDA and cellular device into one. It was also a touch screen with a QWERTY keyboard.
