    Theodosius of Bithynia was said to have invented the sundial. The first recording was 239 BC. You can read this by the edge of the shadow. The sundial uses the position of the sun to tell time. Theres is more than one type of sundial.

    Jost Burgi invented the minute hand in 1577. His part of the invention was for the clock. The minute hand tells the minute of the time. Late on came the hour hand which tells the hour.
