  • Treaty of Versailles

    It was a peace document signed at the end of WW1 by Allied Forces and Germany.
  • The first meeting of the League of Nations

    The League of Nations held its first council meeting in Paris on 16 January 1920, six days after the Versailles Treaty and the Covenant of the League of Nations came into force.
  • The Dawes Plan

    A report, written by C. G. Dawes on the arrangements for Germany's payments of reparations after WW1.
  • The First TV

    Scottish inventor John Logie Baird gave his first demonstration of televised silhouette images in motion, at Selfridge's Department Store in London.
  • The First Talkie Movie

    The first talking movie was made by Warner Brothers. The "Talkies", led to the demise of silent movies. The first feature length talking movie was called 'The Jazz Singer' , starring Al Jolson
  • The Great Depression

    It was the worst economic downturn in history of the industrialised world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. It began after the stock market of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors.
  • Wall Street Crash

    On October 29, 1929, (Black Tuesday) 16 million shares were sold on the stock market in Wall Street and the economy completely collapsed. It destroyed confidence in the Wall Street markets and led to the Great Depression.
  • Hitler becoming Chancellor of Germany

    On 7th February 1933, President Paul von Hindenburg names Adolf Hitler, leader of the or Nazi Party, as chancellor of Germany.
  • Conscription was introduced in Germany

    Hitler announced that the German Army was to be expanded. Conscription was introduced even though it was against the Treaty of Versailles.
  • The Luftwaffe

    Hitler secretly asked Hermann Goring to create a state-of-the-art airforce as the third German military service to join the army and the navy. It was against the Treaty of Versailles.
  • The Nuremberg Laws

    These laws officially excluded Jews from German citizenship and limited their rights as members of society. The laws were anti-semitic and embodied many racial theories under pinning Nazi ideology.
  • Italy Invades Abyssinia

    Italy invaded Abyssinia who didn't have the strength to withstand the attack. Abyssinia appealed to the League of Nations who condemned the attack and called for members to impose trade restrictions on Italy.
  • The Axis Alliance

    Germany and Italy signed "The Treaty Of Friendship" making them allies.
  • The Munich Agreement

    This agreement stated that Hitler could have Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia but he had to promise not to invade the rest of Czechoslovakia.
  • The Invasion of Poland

    Germany invaded Poland and Italy. France then declared war on Germany
