Bismarck formed the Dual Alliance between Germany and Austria- Hungary and Italy.This would help the germany maintain paece within Europe. Bismarck wanted peace in Europe although he was trying to isolate France so they would not have to fight on two fronts if a war happend.

After germany ending it's aliance with Russia, Russia made an aliance with France. THis confirmed Bismark's fear of fighting on two front. This would make any war with France or Russia hard to win because they would have to fight two wars at the same time. -

Many Eupean powers started building armys in case a war occured. They kept on building until their armys whereabsolutly huge so when a war happend they would be able to fight and win the war. The creation of the entente meant that Britain didn't to fight on France's and Russia's side. However, it did almost certainly ensure that Britain would not fight against them. This was kind of a saftey net that for the British in case It was attacked. -
Austria annexing Bosnia and Herzegovina
Austria annexated Bosnia and Herzegovina. They both were heavily populated with the slavic people. Serbia wanted these places and was outraged when Austria took over them right under serbia's nose. Serbia vowed to take over Bosnia and Herzegovina away from Austria and Austria vowed to never let that happen. This caused tension between Serbia and Austria. -
The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
A Serbian exstremist shot and killed Archduke Ferdinand and his wife. This caused mistust and tension throughout Europe. Austria presented a ultimatum to Serbia. Serbia agreed to most of the demands but asked if other countries could settle the rest. Austria said no and declared war. -

Austria declares war on Serbia. Now everyone has to choose who's side there on. Russia immediately chose to side with serbia backing them up on the same day they declared war. August 1 Germany declared war on Ruusia in order to help Austria. Then two days later Germany declared war on france.In mid August thelines where drawn, Bulgaria and the Ottoman empire jioned with germany and the Central powers.
