Eli Whitney Invented the Cototn Gin on March 14, 1793. This inventon helped the slaves process the cotton allot faster, but also increaed the demand for slaves. -

This was an agrement between the anti-slave North and the pro-slave South saying that all states north of the 36,30 degree mark would be free and all south would be slave with the exception of Missouri. -

Dred Scott Decision
The Dread Scott decision is when a slave owner took his slave to the north and when the slave owner wanted to go back south his slave said no he was free because he was now in the north. His case was tried in the supreme court and was found not free. The court also stated that slaves aren't free anywhere. -

Secession of South Carolina
South Carolina was one of the first slave states to Secede from the union. This means they broke away from the united states and declared themselves free. Later on more slave states will follow but not all of them will. -
