Created the territories of Kansas and Nebraska and allowed each to vote weather or not to become a free or slave state. Nebraska became a free state but Kansas was split, causing much tension and violence over it. -

The Sack Of Lawrence
Lawrence was and anti-slave settlement in Kansas and was known for it's attackes on pro-slavery supporters. The Sack Of Lawrence wan when 800 southeners attacked the town, destroying there printing presses, looting houses and shops, and burnning down the Free State Hotel. -
Pottawatomie Massacre
In retaliation to The Sack Of Lawrence John Brown and his group of abolitionist killed 5 pro-slavery settlers north of Pottawatomie Creek. -
1856 Election
The election in 1856 of Democrat James Buchanan. He supported the idea of states being able to vote on weather or not to allow slavery. -

A decision by the Supreme Court that black's could not be citizens, weather free or slave. -
Harper's Ferry
John Brown led a raid on the town's arsenel with 5 slaves. He was eventually hung.
