First Opium War
Chinese citizens wanted to import to offset the massive cost of the need for tea. The East-India company found the solution with poppie flower to convert them into opium, and they decided to create a marked near China. Emperor appointed the official Lin Zexu (anti-opium) to get started with the removal of opium from China. Charles Elliot promised the merchants that England goverment would remove their losses, but only if they leave peacefully but Chinese goverment refused. -
Taiping Rebellion
This rebellion in part was a religious movement but also a political reform movement and it was spread all over southern China. The rebellion case millions deaths by regional armies, causing the regional armies began to spread out to the central control causing the break donw of the rebellion. -
The Self-Strengthening Movement
This movement was a period of reform in China that lasted around the years of 1861 to 1895. In essence the movement was about a response to the increasing of Western power and China. This was attempt to resist and redress the concessions that had to been forced by the goverment of Britain; but the movement at the end failed. -
Sino Japanese War
This war a conflict was between Japan and China, in order to Japan demonstrate the ruling power and the weakness of China empire because both countries wanted to get over control into Korea. Korea was important to China, because of the natural resources that was offered to them as coal and iron that also attacked Japan´s interest, causing the conflict between these two countries. -
The Double Tenth Revolution
The Manchu dynasty started to get weakness after the death of the Emperor and the succession of PuYi with two-years-old. Then Prince Chun loses control of the essential programme of reform and because of the increased taxation and business classes without any socio-economc progressed cause the emergence of the overthrown of the dynasty, creating the revolution. -
Warlords China
These warlords were there to fought between each other for the one that would take control of China. These groups were conformed by gpurps of generals and officers which use to control small areas such as cities. They use to be hundreds of them, but they were only interested in their own power and wealth, and no t helping their people under their rule. This took a lot of people life´s with human massacres. -
The May Fourth Movement
During the period that the warlords and foreign influence in China emerged that the students led a mass demonstration in Beijing in order to protest about the warlords. Specially this movement creating was because they wanted to to dedicated to change and the rebirth of China now as a new independent nation. -
The First United Front
GMD and CCP both wanted to unify China, but first of all what they wanted was to get rid of the warlords so they created the First United Front. they had different ideologies but what they had in common was that China should needed to be free of the foreign imperialist powers. The united front of these parties had destroyed the power o the warlords, but also the GMD announced that it would be the legitimate government of China. -
The GMD attacks the CCP
CCP and GMD that created the United Front was only because of convenience. The conflict between this to parties became to have coonflicts within their difference into cooperation. -
White terror
The attacks to the communist create this event with the GMD we carried out that started to apply purification movement or purification which this meant the massacre of communist, trade unionist and peasant leader. This cause the almost crushed CCP to leave and flee to the mountains of Jiangsi.
