  • The Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was when the British had gained the North American land after the French and Indian war. Many people had bought land on the other side and weren't allowed to use the land because they were not allowed to go past the Appalachian trials.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp act was originally created to pay for the war that had caused lots of damage. The Stamp act was an act that was passed on March 22, 1765 that caused the colonists to have to pay for stamps on any paper goods. This caused the colonists to boycott paper goods until the act was repealed on March 18th, 1766.
  • The Quartering act

    The Quartering act
    The Quartering Act of 1765 caused the colonists to have to pay for soldiers to stay in homes. The soldiers would staying in Housing units of the colonists but if their house was too small then they would pay for the soldiers to say somewhere else.
  • The Townshend act

    The Townshend act
    The Townshend act was a tax that was on things imported to the American colonies. The point of this act was to tax on things that they wouldn't normally get in the American colonies. This tax was on British china, glass, lead, paper, paint and tea. They began boycotting these goods.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a big moment in history for the colonists. People believe that the colonists were throwing snowballs with rocks inside of them which railed up the soldiers into firing at the colonists killing a total of 5 people. Paul Revere created a picture about the event which seemed as if the colonists were the victims. The news began to spread to the other colonies and the colonists weren't happy.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea party was originally started by the Tea act. It was the first major act of finance that occured over the colonies. The colonists boycotted the British tea and smuggled in Dutch tea instead. With the lack of British tea they began to go bankrupt. When the act was passed tea smuggling had increased among the colonies. On December 16th they filled up 3 boats with tea and dumped the tea overboard into the sea. In total they dumped 342 crates of tea into the sea.
  • The Intolerable acts

    The Intolerable acts
    The Intolerable act consisted of 4 acts. The First one was the Boston port act which closed the port of Boston until the tea that was dumped was paid for. The second act was the Massachusetts government act which caused all of the people in the government had to be chosen by the king. The third act was the Administration Justice act which caused all court cases to be held in Great Britain leading to an unfair trial. (See other slide for Quartering act) These rights were unfair for colonists.
