Backlash of Pontiac's Rebellion
The British decided not to fight back against the Indians, resulting in the Proclamation Line of 1763. This Proclamation stated that colonist weren't allowed to settle west of the Appalachians. The Proclamation upset the colonist because they had just fought for the land and now they weren't able to settle in it. -
Stamp Act
In 1765 a law is passed by Parliament that makes colonists pay taxes on printed materials. The Stamp Act was passed on colonist because Britian was in debt from the French and Indian war. This act angers the colonist because they didn't have any say in this law. -
Non-Important Agreement
The Non-Important Agreement was when colonists boycott against imported good from Britian to weaken their economic system. Women played an important role in this event because colonists needed cloth since they had stopped buying it from the British. -
Townshend Acts
The Townshend Acts was a law passed to tax everyday items such as glass, lead, paint, paper and tea. This shocked the colonists and they demand that they wouldn't pay any sort of taxes to the Parliament. -
Boston Masacre
The Boston Massacre was an event where colonists threw snowballs and rocks at British soldiers guarding the Customs House. The soldiers then fired at the mass of colonists and killed five. The soldiers were then jailed and tried for murder. John Adams came to their defense, sending two of the soldiers to prison, for manslaughter. America wanted to prove that even the British soldiers were able to recieve a trial and punishment. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was the event were Boston colonists dressed as Indians came onto 3 British ships that where filled with crates of tea. The deguised colonists then dumped the tea into the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts was the name given to laws passed by Parliament in 1774 to gain control over the colonies. The laws passed were supposed to be a sorta of punishment to the colonist for the Boston Tea Party. One law passed during this act was the Quarting Act, which allowed soldiers to stay in the houses of the colonist. These laws angered the colonist since they were known as the harshest laws passed so far. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord
The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the battle to start off the American Revolution. On the night of April 18th, 1775 a man by the name of Paul Revere, famous for the words, "The British are coming! The British are coming!" hurried to alert the Lexington Minutemen about the arrival of their old friends or you could say new enemies, the British.
