  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The proclamation of 1763 was a proclamation forbidding colonists to go on the west side of the Appalachian Mountains. People were very mad about this because they won the land during the French and Indian war. This proclamation started because they thought it would encourage Native American violence.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act, enacted on April 5, 1764, though not really until September 29, consisting of the British starting to tax the colonists. They started taxing because of the funds from the French and Indian war. The Sugar Act taxed things such as sugar, printed calico, pimiento, coffee, cambric, and some wines.

    The Boston Massacre began because people were not liking the new taxes that were being put on the colonists. There was a group of people who threw a rock as an act of "rioting" and it ended up causing 5 people their lives and 6 people getting badly injured. This caused people to become even more mad than they already were.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest against taxes held at Griffin's Wharf in Boston, Massachusets. The colonists were frustrated at Britain for commanding "taxation without representation" as said on google. With that said, they ended up dumping 342 chests of tea, imported from the British, down into the harbor.

    Boston Port Act
    The Boston Port Act shut the port down from all traffic and made the colonists in Boston pay are very large fine to repay for the tea thrown into the water during the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port act was also one of the intolerable acts. The Port was filled with armed warships to prevent people from coming in and then Boston was filled with more troops afterward too.

    The Massachusetts Government Act was an act of the British Parliament that effectively reduced the colony's control over the government. The main idea for the Massachusetts Government Act was the restruct the "Massechuttes government to give the royally-appointed more power.   • The Administration of Justice Act

    The Administration of Justice Act
    The Administration of Justice Act was also called the Murder Act. This act was to make sure that any British officials who were charged with offenses of trying to uphold the law, were ensured a fair trial. To the colonists, this suspended the right to self-government in Massachusetts and if you were a rebellious colonist, you could be held for a trial in another colony, or held in Great Britain to be heard by a British judge.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    The Quarting Act was that Great Britain would start to house its soldier in colonists' public houses or barracks. Also, if the soldiers had outnumbered the number of colonists' houses they would move to inns and other buildings to house them.
    The act was passed to make a more efficient way of houseing British troops in the Colonies.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    Some of the spoils of the French and Indian war was the British got Canada. This meant that everyone in Canada was Catholic because they were French. At this time, the British had a law that if you were Catholic, you could not be governor or mayor. The Quebec act let the French be mayors even if they weren't the same religion as the British.
