    The war started in 1846 and the Americans won the war in the end. Since Americans won the war, Mexico signed the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which gave the U.S. lots of new territory.

    The Lecompton constitution was 1 of 4 of the proposed constitutions for Kansas. Pro-Slavery advocates drafted it and it was very supported by the President, James Buchanan. Anti Slavery voters refused to vote on the Constitution and it got rejected.

    John Brown was against slavery, he was known for murdering slave holders. He believed he could free the slaves from Virginia by instigating a revolt that would spread throughout the state. So he brought a small group too raid the federal armory in Harpers Ferry, in order to help arm the slaves.
